ICT Introduction

In year 13 three compulsory units are studied:

  • Unit 1 - Information and Communication. Teacher-assessed by portfolio.

  • Unit 2 - Software Applications and Tools. Assessed by examination.

  • Unit 3 - Organisations & Information  Systems. Teacher-assessed by portfolio.

In Year 14, a further three optional units are assessed. Currently these are:

  • Unit 7 - Investigating Systems. Assessed by examination.

  • Unit 8 - Database Development. Teacher-assessed by portfolio.

  • Unit 9 - Website Design & Management. Teacher-assessed by portfolio.

Students spend much of their time working on assignments and projects. For example in Unit 1 they have to design and create an application form for a particular job specification. In Unit 9 they have to design, create and publish a web-site for a real client.

The practical approach encouraged throughout all units will enable candidates to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of practices and techniques required in the workplace.
