Introduction
One of the aims of the Freedom of Information act
2000 (FOIA) is that public authorities, including all maintained
schools, should produce a publication scheme setting out

The information which we publish or intend to

Whether the information is available free of
charge or on payment
All information in our scheme is available in paper
form. Some information which we hold may not be made public, for example
personal information.

Aims and Objectives of the School
Thornhill College, a
Catholic Grammar School, promotes high achievement and learning for
life. It aims to develop in its students:

Single copies of
information covered by this publication are provided free unless stated
otherwise. If your request means that we have to do a lot of
photocopying or printing, or pay a large postage charge, or is for a
priced item such as some printed publications or videos we will let you
know the cost before fulfilling your request.
If you are not satisfied
with the assistance that you get or if we have not been able to resolve
your complaint and you feel that a formal complaint needs to be made
then this should be addressed to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
This is the organisation that ensures compliance with the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and that deals with formal complaints.

The detailed requirements as set out in the Education
(School Information and Prospectuses) Regulations (Northern Ireland)
2003 are summarised below.

The name, address, telephone number, fax number,
email address; the management type of the school and the names of
the Principal and the Chairman of the Board of Governors.

The expected number and age-range of pupils at
the school.
-
The classification of the school as a voluntary
grammar school.
-
The arrangements for parents to obtain copies of
the information which Education and Library Boards are required to
publish about admissions to schools in their area.
-
The arrangements for parents of prospective
pupils to visit the school.
-
Numbers applying
for admission to the school in the school year in which the
prospectus is published and in each of the 2 previous years, and the
number of pupils actually admitted to the school in each of those 3
years broken down into the number of applications and admissions in
each grade in the transfer procedure test.

Details about the school curriculum covering:-

the Board of Governors’ curriculum policy
statement;

details of how complaints in connection with
the curriculum are to be made;
