The Specialist Schools Programme believes that the most effective methods of raising standards involve schools, at all levels, working with each other to share best practice and provide mutual support and challenge. That is the experience of programmes network of affiliated schools, specialist and non-specialist alike.

Specialist schools have a special focus on those subjects relating to their chosen specialism but must also meet the National Curriculum requirements and deliver a broad and balanced education to all pupils.
