The Summer School Scheme


The Summer School Scheme is held every year for three days in July at the start of the school summer holidays. All new Year 8 pupils are invited to attend and take part in a varied programme of activities that is designed to introduce them to Thornhill College and to help them settle into their new school.

A wide variety of fun activities, delivered and supervised by teachers, support staff and senior pupils is arranged each year. These include:

  • Drama
  • A range of sorts and games
  • An introduction to the science laboratories
  • ICT
  • Discover Africa

 Lunch is provided each day and on the final day a special barbecue and presentation ceremony takes place, to which parents are invited.

The Summer Scheme has proved to be a huge success. Pupils enjoy the many activities available.

They make new friends and feel more confident about the move to their new school in September.
