The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is regarded as the world’s leading achievement award for young people.

Its balanced programme of activities in the areas of volunteering, skills development, physical activity and expedition develops the mind, body and soul in an environment of social interaction and team working. It also encourages young people to live life as an adventure.

It offers the following benefits to students:
  • Self-belief;
  • Self-confidence;
  • A sense of identity;
  • Independence of thought and action;
  • Respect and understanding of people from different backgrounds, cultures and walks of life;
  • A sense of responsibility

This year a limited number of students are afforded the opportunity to participate in the Bronze Award in Thornhill College. For more information about the Bronze Award please check out the Powerpoint Presentation by clicking the link on the right.
