The Board of Governors invites applications for the post of:

Vice Principal (commencing 1 September 2010)


The Board of Governors of Thornhill College seeks to appoint a Vice Principal who can demonstrate, at both application and interview stage, a clear vision for the school that will promote and develop the philosophy of Catholic education and which facilitates the creation of an atmosphere where all are valued, encouraged and challenged.


Applicants for the post must at commencement of appointment be qualified teachers who:
 

  • Have been employed in the post-primary sector or related area for at least 5 years in the last 8 - i.e. since 1st September 2002;

  • Have experience of developing, implementing and monitoring pastoral care policy or curriculum planning;

  • Have experience in the management of people and resources;

  • Have held at least a Point 3 Management Allowance for a minimum of 3 years.
     

In addition to the above, preference may be given to applicants who at commencement of employment:

  • have successfully completed the Professional Qualification for Headship (NI) or are serving Vice Principals;

  • have successfully completed an additional and relevant post graduate award-bearing course;

  • demonstrate experience of working in partnership with parents and/or external agencies.


  • The above criteria should be addressed in the application form.

  • Criteria may be enhanced to facilitate short-listing.

12 noon on Thursday 16th September 2010.
