Welcome to Thornhill College

Thornhill College, Derry is an 11-18 girls' Catholic grammar school with a student population of 1410 and a staff of 100 teachers. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1886, the college transferred to its present scenic surroundings, three miles north of the city of Derry in 1932.  The present school building was completed and opened in 2003. The principal is Miss Marguerite Hamilton.

The overall ethos of the school is one which promotes breadth of education and understanding in the pupils. It seeks to enable them to be compassionate, caring human beings with a sense of responsibility towards themselves and also towards others.

Thornhill College enjoys a fine reputation for academic excellence, and for involvement in various educational initiatives. It has made its mark in many other fields, including those of music, drama and sport.

Welcome from the Principal, Miss Hamilton
