ADMISSIONS TEST FOR ENTRY TO THORNHILL COLLEGE - SEPTEMBER 2011

Students wishing to apply for entry to Year 8 in September 2011 will be required to complete an entrance assessment in November 2010.

Registration opens on 24th May 2010 and closes on 17th September 2010. A registration pack will be available on this site from 24th May 2010.

Thornhill College, Convent of Mercy Grammar School is an 11-18 girls' college with a student population of 1410 and a staff of 100 teachers. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1886, the college transferred to its present scenic surroundings, three miles north of the city of Derry in 1932.  The present school building was completed and opened in 2003. The principal is Miss Marguerite Hamilton.


The overall ethos of the school is one which promotes breadth of education and understanding in the pupils. It seeks to enable them to be compassionate, caring human beings with a sense of responsibility towards themselves and also towards others.

Thornhill College enjoys a fine reputation for academic excellence, and for involvement in various educational initiatives. It has made its mark in many other fields, including those of music, drama and sport.
