Educating concerned, informed, adaptable
members of the world community

Our annual Science Fair was a great success with 33 groups of Year 10 pupils and 18 judges from local Stem Industries.

In the the afternoon session, Mike Gibb from World of Owls gave an interactive talk on ecology. Emmett Kerr from University of Ulster gave a career focused talk on Robotics and Mechanical engineering at Magee. Ciara Harkin from GE Engineering gave a talk on females entering STEM careers.

The winning project in this year’s Science Fair was entitled:
“Vitamin C at Sea – A cost analysis of Vitamin C concentration against different brands of Orange Juice”.

The girls were one of 33 projects from Year 10 that entered the annual competition.

Each group decided on a research project which they completed and presented to a panel of judges from education, industry and business.  The winning group produced a high standard of scientific research and presented their work in a clear, professional manner to the judges.  Their answers displayed an excellent understanding of the work undertaken and they were deserving winners of this year’s Science Fair.
